Dai Nippon Teikoku Seihu 10 Roepiah, 1944 — Japanese Occupation of the Netherlands Indies

This is a genuine Japanese Occupation banknote issued for the Netherlands Indies (present-day Indonesia) during World War II, when the Dai Nippon Teikoku Seihu (Imperial Japanese Government) circulated its own currency to replace the pre-war Dutch guilder. This note does not carry a printed serial number — instead it bears only the "SL" block letters printed in red ink, a distinctive feature of certain wartime emission batches.

This note stands out for its beautiful combination of colors and artwork, making it a favorite among collectors who appreciate finely designed occupation-era currency. It is a fairly scarce piece and highly sought after for display and collection purposes.

Size: 157 x 75 mm
Front: Javanese dancer figure (Gatot Kaca) on the left
Back: Stupas and Buddha statues from Borobudur Temple
Watermark: None

Please note this note carries no printed serial number, so each option below is set aside and marked internally on our end to match exactly what you select — you will receive the precise note shown for your chosen option.

Choose Your Note:

Option 1 — AUNC (About Uncirculated)
Paper is still fresh, crisp and thick, with bright original color. No folds, only very slight mishandling on the left side. Fine foxing consistent with the note's age. No signs of circulation at all.

Option 2 — XF+/AU (Extremely Fine to About Uncirculated)
Paper is still fresh, crisp and thick, with good color retention. One faint central fold and very slight mishandling on the right side. No visible signs of circulation, as the note still looks quite fresh.

Option 3 — XF+ (Extremely Fine Plus)
Paper is still very nice, thick and crisp. No folds, only slight creasing likely from handling rather than circulation, as this note shows little to no sign of having circulated.

Option 4 — VF (Very Fine)
Paper is still nice and thick. Three folds and light creasing consistent with normal use. Fine foxing and light spotting consistent with age and handling. No holes, only a very minor tear on the top and bottom center margin/edge, likely from an old fold.
