Rare Antique Paper Money 5 Gulden 1946 Federal Series Violet Variant De Javasche Bank

AT019164 (VF+/XF)

5 Gulden 1946 — De Javasche Bank Federal Series (Violet Variant) | Netherlands Indies Currency

This 1946 Federal Series 5 Gulden note is genuinely scarce and rarely turns up in nice surviving condition after nearly 80 years. This is the violet color variant of the note, a detail collectors of this series specifically look out for.

Size: 150 x 75 mm
Front: A lotus flower depicted at left, framed within the note's ornate period engraving.
Back: Legal warning text (multilingual), issued under the authority of De Javasche Bank.
Watermark: Geometric pattern woven across the paper.

Each note offered here is an original, hand-checked piece, not a reprint or replica.

Choose Your Note (Serial Number & Condition):

Option 1 — Serial Number AT 019164 — Grade: VF+/XF (Very Fine Plus to Extremely Fine)
Paper remains excellent, firm, and crisp, with the color still showing vividly. Fold marks and creasing from circulation are barely visible. Only fine foxing and light toning from age. Minor flaws: one fine pinhole near the left border, one nearly invisible minor repair spot on the bottom border, and minor paper pull on the back.

Option 2 — Serial Number AW 067848 — Grade: VF- (Very Fine Minus)
Paper remains nice, and the color still shows well. Fold marks and creasing from genuine period circulation, with foxing and toning from age and handling. No holes. Minor flaw: a very minor tear at the top-center and bottom-center margin/edge from an old, long-set fold.

Option 3 — Serial Number DQ 094860 — Grade: VF- (Very Fine Minus) — Bears a rare RMS (Republik Maluku Selatan) overprint stamp
A genuinely special piece: this note carries an RMS (South Moluccas Republic) stamp, a historical overprint that collectors of this series actively seek out. Paper remains nice and firm, and the color still shows well. Fold marks and creasing from circulation, with foxing and toning from age and handling. Minor flaws: a minor repair on the right margin, and a very minor nick at the top-right corner.

Option 4 — Serial Number DM 010287 — Grade: F (Fine)
Paper remains fairly nice. Fold marks and creasing from circulation, with foxing and soiling from age and handling. No holes. Minor flaws: minor nicks on the top and bottom margin/edge.

Option 5 — Serial Number AEE 095811 — Grade: VG- (Very Good Minus)
Paper is a little softened with handling. Fold marks and creasing from circulation, with foxing and soiling from age and handling. Minor flaws: fine holes and minor nicks around the margin/edge.
