1960 (ND 1964) Indonesia 1000 Rupiah "Soekarno" Replacement Note — Pick# 88b, PMG 50 AUNC*
This is a genuinely special piece of rare paper money. It's a replacement note (Pick# 88b*, prefix XBQ) issued to swap out damaged or misprinted notes during production. Replacement notes were printed in tiny batches compared to the regular run, and very few survive today in any collectible grade, let alone one this nice.
It's the highest denomination of the Soekarno series, featuring the first president in military dress on the front and a gorgeous engraving of two Balinese dancers on the reverse — a genuine centerpiece for vintage decor as much as a collection. This particular banknote grades About Uncirculated, with crisp green ink and sharp detail across both sides.
The numbers tell the real story here: PMG has certified only 4 copies at this 50 grade, with just 38 total in all higher grades combined. That's an exceptionally small population for any note, and replacement notes in general carry a premium among serious collectors simply because so few were ever printed to begin with.
