500 Gulden 1946 De Javasche Bank Federal Series Netherlands Indies Currency

This 1946 Federal Series 500 Gulden note is one of the scarcest pieces from its era, rarely found in decent surviving condition. It was the second-largest denomination issued in this series — at the time, 500 Gulden represented a genuinely substantial sum, making surviving examples both historically significant and hard to source today.

Back: Legal warning text (multilingual), issued under the authority of De Javasche Bank.

Option 1 — Serial Number UJ 081705 — Grade: VF (Very Fine)
Paper remains in nice, solid condition. Expected fold marks and creasing from genuine period circulation. Foxing and toning present, consistent with the note's age and history of handling. Minor flaws: a fine pinhole near the center, and a small minor tear along the top-center and right edge/margin.

Option 2 — Serial Number UE 082367 — Grade: F (Fine)
Paper is still fairly substantial, though slightly softened with handling. Fold marks and creasing from circulation, along with foxing and age-related soiling. Minor flaws: a tear at the top-center edge, and a fine pinhole at the center from an old, long-set fold.

Option 3 — Serial Number UD 003979 — Grade: VF- (Very Fine Minus)
Paper remains in nice condition with no holes. Fold marks and creasing from circulation, with foxing and age-related soiling present. Minor flaws: slightly faded ink/color, and a minor tear at the top-center edge from an old, long-set fold.
